Bluebird Eggs
Bluebird eggs
Bluebird Eggs are powder blue (no dark spots), sometimes white. It is not common to have feathers in a bluebird nest, but this one had a few. The swoopy nest to the right has a leaf in it which may have been stuck to the mix of pine needles and grass used.
What color eggs do Bluebirds lay?
Bluebirds usually lay blue eggs, but sometimes they are white.
What's the difference between Robin eggs and bluebird eggs?
Robin hatchlings are much larger than bluebird hatchlings, and have longer tufts of white fuzz along their spines and forehead. They are incubated for about 12-14 days, and fledge in 14-16 days.
Do Bluebirds lay all their eggs at once?
At any rate, once a female begins laying her eggs she will lay one a day until the clutch is completed. Each egg is usually laid before mid-morning. Incubation doesn't begin until the last egg is laid. This insures that all of the eggs will hatch at approximately the same time.
